positvely dreamy light fixture

Don't you love those moments where you find something you really like? I do. Recently in my never-ending browsing of Old House Journal and Old House Interiors, I started to notice ads for a place called Brass Light Gallery. I liked their ads and I noticed they are in Milwaukee, a mere hour and a half drive from us.

I went to their website and started looking around....and I liked what I saw. They don't have prices there, which made me nervous, but I am going to perservere and get some quotes soon.

I love the light at left (Bayview Ceiling fixture Goldenrod Collection)and want to get it for our bedroom. It shines up and down- how perfect! and it has craftman elements but seems somewhat transitional, which matches our home style.

You see, our bedroom badly needs a light fixture- wouldn't you say?

It's been like this, since the old jimmy-rigged fixture failed on us. When I get a price, I'll post it and let you know if it's do-able. Do you like it for our bedroom?

I dig it. I've never seen anything like that before. It's probably not something that everyone will like but I think it makes a unique conversation piece. I say go for it, unless it costs an arm and a leg.

I've never seen anything like that before either. Gorgeous! In fact, I think I'd like to move into that room.

Very nice. In fact, I came this close to buying a similar one to that for my foyer. It was at a shop here in town and the owner was a jerk. I don’t think I looked like the type that would want to buy his high-end stuff so he treated me accordingly. I haven’t been back since and in the mean time I’ve bought tons of lighting for my house.

Your house is old enough that it may have had the gas/electric combo lights like that. I know mine did on the first floor. Have you ever seen old pipes in the ceiling?

Unique, but not tacky! I think it would go, and woud be a subtle touch of flavor for the room.

I love those kinds of lights! They're what Rejuvenation calls Early Eclectic. But I've never seen one with Craftsman styling like that. They're all more Victorian looking. Very cool!

Hey,
I have been to Brass Light more than a few times over the years. Its an easy trip sine I live im Milwaukee. Their prices are not usually all that bad. They do a lot of work restoring/rebuilding antique fixtures, so they usually have things on hand that you plain old wont find else where. Price wise they were not too bad as well. From Chicago they are probably worth the trip, as its about 90 minutes from downtown to downtown and they are just south of downtown. Wathc out though, the construction is pretty thick down there this year.
