One Year anniversary

Last year, Easter weekend, we demoed the kitchen. I really can't believe it's been a whole year. I think I've already said that we are at the countertop point, then backsplash tile, then running water, so we are pretty darn close, but then our pantry shelving is not even started yet.

If anyone else has taken this long to do a room project and cares to share, I'd love to hear from you. It's hard for me right now because there is very little I can actually do. Steve does the carpentry work. I will be tiling when the time comes, but for now I am on a respite, which I find uncomfortable. We can't really start anything else until this kitchen monster is done. I never thought I'd say it, but I can't wait to strip another door! It's just been kitchen kitchen kitchen for way too long!

And speaking of waiting, I was on jury duty today and sat in a room with over 100 other people sitting around waiting to be dismissed- what a waste for a busy do-er such as myself-I actually slept like I was on an airplane.

Don't feel so bad. I've been waiting on a bedroom/bathroom for nearly 4 (yes, FOUR) years. There's a lot more to it than that, but I have been sleeping in temporary quarters for nearly that long.

Hope this makes you feel better! :)

One afternoon I went to scrape some loose accoustical tiles off my bathroom ceiling (gross and soggy... moron POs) and had the whole ceiling come down on me. It took almost a year until I was finally able to sit down to some MOST satisfying business in my bright and clean new bathroom. In that time I put in a new ceiling, rebuilt most of the floor (not floorING, but actual structural floor), got the toilet on and off a few times, bought two new sinks and faucets, installed one of each, redid the plumbing to it from the basement, tore out, bumped out and rebuilt one wall to do so, tiled, painted, cleaned like a demon, etc. It was worth it... and this is only the temporary bathroom!
In a few months, you're in for such a treat! The satisfaction and pride will be fantastic. You'll find yourself opening drawers or whatever just to do it 'cause it works so well and is so cool and you guys did it! It's going to ROCK!
